After two exciting weekends of NCAA Tournament action, the 2025 Final Four field is set. The bracket started with 68 teams earlier this month, and the field has since shrunk to a mere quartet ahead of what should be a historic Final Four next weekend. For the first time since 2008, all four No. 1 seeds reached the Final Four. No. 1 seed Duke, led by National Player of the Year candidate Cooper Flagg, will square off against No. 1 seed Houston, while No. 1 seed Florida faces No. 1 Auburn in the national semifinals. The 2025 Major League Baseball season has began on March 18–19 with a two-game series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs held in Tokyo, Japan, before the rest of the regular season, which is set to run from March 27 to September 28. Opening Day in North America is now planned for March 27 except for the Colorado Rockies and the Tampa Bay Rays, which was rescheduled to March 28 due to works at the Rays' temporary ground Steinbrenner Field. Thunder (61-12): Shai Gilgeous-Alexander joined Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson as the only players in NBA history to score at least 20 points in 65 straight games during a single season. We're running out of superlatives for this dude, who may be on his way to his first MVP (and is definitely on his way to a massive payday this summer). Meanwhile OKC has hit the 60-win mark and has won seven straight. Let's not take for granted what a remarkable season this is. 2. Cavaliers (59-14): Nothing like matchups with the Jazz and Blazers to help cure the ills of a four-game losing streak. Ty Jerome averaged 18.5 points and three assists on 7-for-9 combined 3-point shooting in the two wins. 3. Celtics (54-19): The Celtics clicking on this level is a scary sight for the rest of the league, who feared that Boston would start to ramp things up as the postseason approached. They've won 12 of their last 13, with the only loss coming to the league's best team, and have outscored opponents by 12 points per 100 possessions during that stretch. The scary thing is, they've rarely had their full complement of players on any given night. 4. Rockets (48-26): Sunday's loss to the Nuggets (without Nikola Jokic) could prove costly in the standings, but Houston is still playing some of the best basketball in the NBA. Seven Rockets have averaged double figures as the team has gone 10-1 since March 6, with the league's fourth-best net rating over that span. 5. Nuggets (46-28): Nikola Jokic was a welcome sight on Wednesday for the Nuggets, who went 2-3 in his only extended absence of the season. He sure looked rusty in his return, putting up 39 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists on 16-for-25 shooting in a win over the Bucks. NHL power rankings: 1. Avalanche (45-25-3): The Avalanche have a great team, and their depth has only improved throughout the season. That said, they could have an AHL squad around Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar and still be pretty formidable. MacKinnon and Makar are two of the premier players in the game today, and each one is capable of single-handedly winning games. 2. Capitals (47-16-9): Back in September, noone never have believed that Dubois would be a source of hope for the Capitals. But he's revived his career with 61 points and a plus-34 goal differential at five-on-five. Dubois looks like a completely different player in Washington, and he gives the team an elite power forward heading into the playoffs. 3. Hurricanes (43-24-4): The Hurricanes will once again try to get over the postseason hump, and their path sets up relatively well through the first couple rounds. It looks like they'll get the Devils, sans Jack Hughes and Dougie Hamilton, in the first round. Then they'd likely have to face the Caps, a possible Presidents' Trophy winner, in the second. That would be a challenge, but the underlying statistical profile clearly favors Carolina. 4. Golden Knights (43-20-8): Winning the Pacific Division means avoiding the Kings and Oilers in the first round and getting a considerably weaker wild card opponent. The Golden Knights' seven-point lead looks pretty safe, and it gives them a nice edge in the postseason. No matchup will be a cakewalk, but avoiding Connor McDavid as long as possible is a good strategy. 5. Jets (49-19-4): The biggest key in the Jets being bona fide Stanley Cup contenders is the play of Hellebuyck. His 33.8 goals saved above average are first in the league, as is his .924 save percentage. Oh, and he'll want to avenge last season's playoff meltdown.
